As finals week is coming to an end, WHS had some special visitors: therapy dogs.

After the math final on Thursday, June 16, the BuildOn Club, an organization that works to help education and learning in all areas of the world, brought several dogs of all shapes and sizes to the band room. With lines stretching far and wide out the door, the event was a success as students paused from the intensity of finals week to cuddle a furry friend.

“It was nice to be able to get out of the mindset of school and finals and just to sit with these dogs,” freshman Ellie Rosenfeld said.

Sophomore Maddie Epperson, who spearheaded BuildOn’s campaign to bring the dogs to Weston, commented on how the dogs helped Weston students combat the anxiety and stress that accompanies finals.

BuildOn brought the therapy dogs to Weston High as its contribution to our student’s mental health, which is directly related to their success,” Epperson said.
